3rd Annual Healing Walk - http://www.healingwalk.org/#!home/mainPage
Feast to follow at 5 pm at the Fort McMurray Friendship Center.
The walk is 14km and takes us through the heart of multiple open pit tar sands mines, tailings ponds and reclamation sites.
Water, lunch and energy snacks are provided during the walk. Please bring reusable water containers.
Because of the nature of the close proximity to the tar sands operation sites this walk is not recommended for those with respiratory illnesses or sensitivity. There will be exposure to harsh air pollutants.
If you would still like to attend the walk but fear that it is too long or you would only like to walk a portion of it, no worries, we will have vans available to pick people up to take to start point/rest area.
Remember, this is NOT a protest, march or a political rally, nor is it a race! It is a spiritual healing journey to focus attention on the water and land and the people who care about the future. We respectfully ask supporters to embrace the spiritual intention of this walk and show solidarity by walking under the direction of the Indigenous Elders.
