Water Quality Monitoring Workshop
Public Invited to Free Water Quality Monitoring Workshop
Community organizations needed to assess and protect waterways in Marcellus Shale drilling region.
Individuals and community groups interested in monitoring creeks and streams within the Marcellus Shale drilling region are encouraged to attend. Participants will receive a briefing from ALLARM’s water quality experts on the science of Marcellus Shale, the importance of community monitoring and various levels of water pollution that could stem from natural gas drilling, as well as tools to collect and interpret water quality data.
Since June 2010, ALLARM has worked with more than 50 community groups across the state to collect and interpret water quality data. The grassroots training has provided more than 700 volunteers in 27 Pennsylvania counties with resources and equipment to monitor local creeks and streams for any harmful effects of Marcellus drilling.
