Science Summer Camp
CHEVRON ENVIRONMENTAL YOUTH SERVICE SCIENCE CAMP
Overview: A FREE week long camp for all middle school students, currently in grades 5-7, attending school in Washington, Fayette, or Greene Counties. Participants will engage in environmental service-learning opportunities, leadership development training and youth organizing activities. This fun, hands-on experience will be staffed by W&J college students and managed by the W&J Office of Volunteer Programs.
Dates & Times: June 18-22, 2012 - 9:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
Location: Each morning participants need to be dropped off between 8:30-9am and picked up between 2:30-3pm at The Rossin Campus Circle located on the Washington & Jefferson College campus (60 S. Lincoln St., Washington, PA 15301). It is the parents/guardians responsibility to arrange transportation accommodations for the participant. The camp will not provide transportation.
Participant Registration & Admission: This camp is open to all middle school students, currently in grades 5-7, attending school in Washington, Fayette, and Greene Counties. The camp can accommodate 50 participants therefore students will be registered on a first come first serve basis. Registration is open through May 31, 2012.
Incentives: Participants will receive a free t-shirt and a certificate of completion. In addition they will receive a complimentary lunch and snack each day.
Camp Culture: This camp is designed to teach participants about the environment and ways they can make this world a cleaner, greener, healthier place to live. They will engage in interactive, fun leadership development activities that are focused on teaching them the skills needed to be young civic leaders. Camp leaders are all enthusiastic, educated and highly trained adults who are passionate about leadership development, service-learning and working with youth.
