Ohio Fracktion Action Camp!
First Unitarian Universalist Church
The fight against fracking is heating up this summer. People across the region are taking direct action to defend their communities and protect their air and water. Earlier this month in Jersey Shore, PA residents of the Riverdale Mobile Home park and supporters blocked construction of a water withdrawal station on the Susquehanna River for nearly two weeks, while last week in Athens, OH an activist locked herself to cement barrels to block access to a wastewater injection well.
Ohio Fracktion is organizing a four-day action camp in Youngstown, OH from July 13-16 and the Shadbush Collective is mobilizing a group from our area to attend. The action camp will include trainings on the strategy, tactics, and logistics behind non-violent direct action as well as sessions on monitoring, injection wells, and other issues that communities are facing. The camp will culminate with a day of action on monday July 16. This will be a great opportunity to learn about how to incorporate direct action into our local campaigns and network with organizers from around the region. A full schedule and workshop information will be posted soon here http://ohiofracktion.com/summer-action-camp/
We would like to coordinate a carpool from southwestern PA. If you are interested in attending, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include the following:
-where you live
-what days you are able to attend
-whether you can offer a ride, or need a ride
See you in Youngstown!
